Do you want to reach out to potential new clients? Are you interested in trying a new social network? TikTok just may be the platform you need to connect with young pet owners!

What’s TikTok?

It’s a relatively new social media platform which, despite stirring up its share of controversy, has risen to become the second most popular app in terms of monthly downloads, surpassing Instagram. It allows users to film, edit and share their own video clips of 15 seconds or less, in addition to giving them access to an array of filters and special effects. TikTok also offers a huge music and sound library that can be used to enhance the content of video clips.

Who is the target audience?

With over 800 million users, TikTok is especially big among Generation Z (14 to 26 years of age), and it also is rapidly growing in popularity among the Generation Y demographic (25 to 34 years).

How can TikTok be used for veterinary marketing?

TikTok is easy to use and can inject a lot of creativity into your veterinary content broadcast strategy. In addition, its algorithm suggests videos to people who may be interested in the type of content you’re offering, making it an interesting driver of audience growth. You can even share videos created on other platforms, such as Instagram. Your creative video clip could then be seen by more potential clients.

As an animal health professional, you have quite an advantage since animals are hugely popular on social networks! Your videos featuring your clinic’s adorable patients of the day will melt the hearts of pet owners. You can also publish content starring your employees, accompanied by the sound of a TikTok song.

TikTok is also a great way to educate or interact with your clients. A lot of pet owners have questions and concerns about their furry (or feathered, scaly or, why not, hairless!) friends: TikTok can be a great tool for providing answers to frequently asked questions. You could create a video that reaches out to users by asking them a teaser question, and post a new video with the answer afterwards. TikTok’s only limit is your creativity!

A few tips…

Before you start creating TikTok videos, here are some practical tips specific to this social media platform:
